Horizon by Gabriel-BS Horizon by Gabriel-BS
So, I think this is my first non-wallpaper space image. Which was very nice for a change since it gave me the opportunity to create another feeling and atmosphere.
This is also just something I did in the meantime as I have been working with commissioned work lately, which I hopefully can share with you soon!

It might happen that I tweak some things and update it, but it will basically remain the same.

Layers: 55
Time: Around 10 hours
Size: 1080x1920 px (Original 2160x3840 px)
Resources: Personal stocks (Close planet), Visible Earth (Planets and moons), CGtextures (Nebulae)

Great work, I'd love to set the 2160x3840 version as my desktop background if you still have the original.

Thank you very much! :D I am afraid that this image is not made for wallpaper use, meaning however you crop or rotate the image, it will not look that good...
But if you want to, yes I could send you the original sized file. I would need you email for that though!

Hi, thanks! That would be great. My email is brian@eng.wayne.edu
I just purchased a TCL 3840x2160 monitor and I'm running it in portrait mode, so I'm hoping it will be a good fit. Thanks again!

Very nice work! I like the close-up planet in particular, a great way to make use of cloud photos taken from the plane. :) (although the clouds may be a bit too big since the viewer is way outside the planets atmosphere, but I'm not quite sure about that...)

Well, after looking at other people works at close up planets, I always thought those with clouds looked spectacular. So I was very intrigued to try it out myself!
But yes, you're right about the proportions, yet the clouds is what people seem to like the most! ;)

if it wasn't for the amazing close up it maybe wouldn't have caught my attention, so yea, it's probably a good thing that you keep it this way. :D

This is actually amazing, I started to do some of this stuff myself!
Check it out if you like. (:

I really like the cloud texture, I'll be attempting something similar soon after seeing this.
Good work!

Thank you very much! :)

I looked through your gallery, it looks like got the hang of some basics!
Space Job and Sun looks quite neat actually! It's still a long way to go, but you're off with a very good start!
Keep on going!

Thanks dude!
Do you have any tutorials you could recommend?
And a good place to get good texture maps?

Well, there's shit-loads of great tutorials if you know where to look, here's a good place to start with: pscreated-space.deviantart.com…
It's difficult to recommend just one. If you've been doing it for a while you start to develope your own work flow and techniques, you'll notice that many of them are similar but different enough to be unique.
Also, www.cgtextures.com/ have been a great resource since I started, but lately I've been checking in visibleearth.nasa.gov/ for the planet textures!
But remember that good textures doesn't necessarily make a good picture ;)
